Who doesn’t want to be liked? I think we all do. When I first became a manager that was my primary goals.
Why?
I thought that if I was liked, then people would respect me, do what I ask and would not give me any trouble at all.
So I tried to make everyone happy. I gave them any requested day off, any vacation time, never wrote anyone up, didn’t reprimand late-comers…
