Thanks for reading and engaging, Frank. I like how you think. You are right. We do have an inadequacy in human language to explain God. That's why I wrote that God doesn't hate like we hate.
I like the bible to explain itself. God is love and He hates. We can't let our feelings of how a loving God should be get in the way. It's almost like those paradoxes that Jesus teaches us; 'the last shall be first', 'the greatest is the servant'.
The Holy Spirit draws us to God. We love Him because He first loved us. That's all true.
But could it be that He destroyed the whole human race except eight because He hated them? Could it be that He wanted the Amalekites destroyed because He hated them?
