The Love and Trials of a Father

Struggles a man would grapple with again and again

I once was a dad filled with fear,
Will my love for my kids be sincere,
I struggled each day,
To show them the best way,
To make wrong and right in their minds clear.

Your best might still make you last,
Scraped knees and falls in a cast,
To build confidence,
I never relent,
And slowly their success amassed.

The nights with homework were long,
Teaching math, hopefully right not wrong,
Though the science was tough,
the biology rough,
I nurtured their minds to be strong.

Now, the kids are all grown and moved out,
And my guidance, forever about,
Though the struggles were tough,
my love was enough,
And my legacy is not in doubt.
