The Space Between My Ears

It’s as tiny as an atom and as vast as the universe.

Its average width is about 140 mm, its average length is about 167 mm, and its average height is about 93 mm. That’s the size of my brain. Give or take. Doesn’t sound vast, does it?

It isn’t.

But my mind is. Or what my mind is able to conceive is.

What is the size of my mind?

I don’t know. The mind is an abstract concept. We know we have one but we really can’t explain it. Philosophers have tried. Philosophy of mind is a branch of philosophy that studies ontology and the nature of the mind and its relationship with the body. You can read about it here if you’re interested.

Who am I?

I’m imaginative. I enjoy escaping my humdrum routine of a life and whisking myself on James Bond-like adventures where I kill the bad guy and get the girl.

Or I don a wingsuit and soar above Mount Kilimanjaro kissing the snow-tipped peaks or having a front-row seat watching a cheetah as it chases an antelope.

Those are dangerous exploits. I go there because that’s not me. In reality, I’m safe. There are rollercoasters I wouldn’t venture upon because my fear of heights won’t let me. I shot a rifle once and…
